About the ICT Research Institute
University of Wollongong’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Research Institute is one of the longest running university-based research institutes in the field of ICT in Australia and is a flagship research strength within the University. The Institute has been instrumental in establishing the University’s international reputation in ICT research and is recognized as a Centre of Excellence in Telecommunications by the New South Wales State Government. ICT Research Institute has significant research capacity in the areas of communication and wireless technology, multimedia and information processing, computer and information security, and intelligent systems. Currently the research institute is comprised of six laboratories, which collectively represent about 32 academic research staff and 70 post-graduate students, 90% of them are PhD students.
